What options does one have to correct an asymmetrical face?

I had extreme trauma to my face about six months ago. After the healing period, I realized that my face did not completely return to normal, one side of my face seems larger than the other. I told a doctor about the problem, but he said that he did not notice asymmetry, although, I find it very noticeable. If I go to a surgeon will he be able to correct the problem? It's really upsetting to me because before the trauma I was symmetrical.
