If there's already a CPT in the room to I call atlease for a CSM entering the same room?

Earlier today I was in sick call where there was a CPT actively running around the room and the command sergeant major of our unit entered and no one called atease. Were we right to not have done so seeing there's already a commisioned officer in the room?
