Are you kids close in age or spread out...which is better?

My boys are 2 1/2 years apart which worked great for me and is the average according to recent studies. Gives time for moms body to repair itself before getting pregnant again. I find that as long as there isn't more than 4-5 years difference it seems to work ok but I know that the kids I know that were the only child for more than 5 years had a much harder time accepting a new baby and sharing the attention and their toys. But each child is also very different. My exhusband and his sister are 10 years apart and my ex hated having a baby sister when she was first born because he was already use to being an only child. My boys are pretty close although they fight but it is typical sibling stuff. I am now pregnant and so my youngest son and this baby will be almost 4 years apart so it will be interesting to see how that all plays out, my son is already a mommy's boy and doesn't share me well at all.
